Training dates have been posted to the calendar. If you have leaders who lack training, please insure that they allocate the time to attend training. Training is not just for front line leaders. Parents who want their scout to get the most out of the program, should attend training and learn just how the scouting program works. Training will make your job easier and you will get much better results..

Youth Protection Training

Every registered adult must take the on-line version of youth protection traiining.  Some activities like summer camp and Twilight Camp require the in-person version or Face-to-Face youth protection training.  Watch the calendar for dates and times.  

Advanced Leadership Training for Adults (Wood Badge)

So you are starting to get more involved with your Scout's unit and activities and you see the benefits that the program has for him and how it will have a positive impact on the rest of his life. Did you know that there is an adult leadership training available to you that will have a positive impact on the rest of your life, not just for Scouting, but professionally and personally?  More information.

Backcountry Advanced Training

BAT is an interactive course designed for those Individuals and Units who are preparing for a high-adventure trek and for those interested in organizing first time backcountry activities for their Unit. The class consists of classroom sessions followed by a weekend backpacking  campout.  The class is normally offered in the spring and the fall.  Check the calendar for dates.

Wilderness First Aid Classes 

This is the 16 hour ECSI course designed by Philmont and meets the requirements for the BSA High Adventure Bases.

Boy Scout Leader Specific and Outdoor Leader Training

Boy Scout Leader Specific is a two evening course which will expand on and clarify your understanding of the scout program. The course addresses how and why it works and will help you to insure the success of scouts in your unit. This course is for all adults including parents, committee members and front line leaders. 

The companion course, "Outdoor Leader Specific Training" is a hands on experience where you participate as your scout would in the actual planning and execution of a scout campout. You will learn by doing at the direction of an experienced leadership team. Expect to learn a lot and have a very enjoyable weekend experience. Advance registration and preparation is required. Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

This training is required for outdoor Cub Scout activities.  More information will be available in the fall.  Check the calendar for dates.

Spring NYLT

NYLT or National Youth Leadership Training is advanced leadship training course for scouts.  

As you may know, Circle Ten Council runs NYLT courses over the Summer, Winter Break, and over Spring Break. I am the course director for the upcoming NYLT Spring Break course, to be held over March 15-20.

Youth that are leaders in their Troops, Crews, or Ships (or those aspiring to be leaders within the next year or so) are encouraged to attend!

Oak Leaf Spring 2020

This event has been canceled due to the CONVID-19 national emergency.  

When:  April 4-5, 2020  Arrive at 8:00am April 4, 2020. Dismiss at 2:00pm April 5, 2020

What: Oak Leaf is a junior leader experience designed to supplement Troop level training and prepare Scouts for NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training).

Hazardous Weather Training

Scouting is committed to safety and weather safety is of particular importance in our area. Effective April 30th, 2018, new direct contact leaders must complete Hazardous Weather Training to be considered position trained. This includes, Cubmasters, Den Leader Webelos Den Leaders, Scoutmasters, LDS leaders of 11-year olds, Crew Advisors, Ship Skippers and Post Advisors. This program has a two year expiration.
